Very important that you read this!

In case you missed it, there is a new phishing site that mimicks the OGame forums. Read about it here:

Fake forum

The thing about this site is it is a real phishing site gathering IDs and passwords. And they're pretty crafty about it. Looks real, smells real, but it's fake. My guess is it is looking for usernames/passwords for OGame accounts, and not just message board accounts.

I want to ad a couple of tips here:

1) Do NOT use the same password in the game and on the board. Keep them totally separate. Be safe! Better to have your rep on the board tarnished by a hacker than to lose 2-3 years worth of work in the game because someone deleted all your colonies in game because you used the same password in the game and on the board. Board accounts can be fixed. OGame accounts can't.

2) If you happen to get on that site, change your password immediately if you enter it!

After an hour of digging on this site, I can tell you this is a phony website looking for your information. As a final tip, ALWAYS make sure the URL that displays in your address bar is http://board.ogame.org/ (for ORG universes)

Anything else is bogus.

The scary part is that the page is current and the links actually take you back to these boards and the right forum.

Whew - that sneaky. If you don't look at the url you'd never know.

Thanks for the warning as i have seen quite a few people lose accounts this way from being hacked by clicking on links ( Noobs not realising thier e-mail has been changed in the options menu after clicking on a supposedly ogame tool helper )

I trust this forum as do many people but i always check the address bar as i know that most internet explorer programs are a shell based program giving access to more than just web pages.

With just a small amount of programming knowledge you can destroy years of work.

Ignorance can do the same so thankyou for highlighting the problem.

Vigilance would seem to be the best answer to this problem, and of course finding out who did this and replacing a few files on his webpage with a program i once wrote for my ex-employer.

( If you know someone who can, i can send them the code )

I informed the Ogame lawyer already. They will make sure it will vanish.

Until then, the warning stays up.

Thanks for the heads up, also, you might want to change the title of the thread so that it's more clear what's so important about it.

Also, if you some-how do enter your password, change it ASAP!

When someone sends you a link to a board thread, make sure that it has ogame.org in the link.

Also, if you find any other phishing make sure you report it to any of the BAs. Don't keep it to yourself

I doubt I logged into this becaue the Ogame boards always just opens in my tabs on Firefox when I start it up, it shouldn't change should it?

If you clicked on the "Board" link in the game, you're safe. I am assuming this hacker is planting his URL on third party sites to lure people in.

As another tip, if you just type http://board.ogame.org and save it as a favorite (or bookmark) if you enter the board another way, this will insure you get here.

And a final tip. If you are ever on a site that "looks" like OGame or the board (or any other website for that matter that you are suspicious of), here is a way to tell if it is fake. Do not enter your real name or password. Type any random characters in the ID and Password boxes. If it "accepts" the junk you put in, then you're not on the legit site. I tend to catch more fake sites this way.

one can look at the URL. URLs are like internet DNA, no two are exactly the same.

you are right but you can use there own login to check if the pw and username is correct just the same way you would if you were to
you could do a fake lure set up a account here on the forums set the uni to what ever make a new account in the uni get just get the remote ip and try and compare it to some user unless they have a proxy which may be harder but not much harder

But consider this: if OGame has its own phishing site it must be a veeery good game ;)
