The Order of the Golden Shields (LosT) hereby proclaims itself victorious over the Knights of the Cross (Knights) alliance. To be fair, we are giving the Knights two days (48 hours) to reply to this thread if they wish to dispute our victory or continue the war. After this time peroid has passed we will ask a moderator to close this thread if the Knights have not made an appearance by that time. I have already confirmed with a moderator that this is acceptable.
To explain why we are declaring our victory now I will first give a "short" history of the events that have happened in this war so far and then give our reasons for feeling that we have overcome our enemy and no longer need to fight them.
This war first started when an ex-member of an alliance known as UNSC (now known as "TIGERS of UNSC") contacted the Knights and told them that UNSC was encouraging their weaker members to push resources to their stronger members so that the stronger memebers could "protect" the weaker ones. In other words the accusation being made was that UNSC was trying to extort "protection money" from their members like a gang. Despite the lack of any evidence to support this claim, the Knights took the word of this ex-member and apparently were offended by this enough to want to declare war on UNSC for it.
Tyekai, the most vocal member of the Knights, posted
this poll on the Knights forum asking "Should we have a war with the horribly ranked alliance with no ranked players?" but because he didn't mention anything about pushing in that poll, when we read it (its posted on the public sections of their forum which used to be linked from their alliance page) we assumed it was a case of a larger and more powerful alliance picking on a weaker and smaller alliance. I contacted the leader of UNSC (Nightspell) and he confirmed that his alliance was being picked on and was going to lose if there was a war. He mumbled something about an "ex-memeber" talking to the Knights and asking them to attack but gave no other excuse for why the Knights were out to get him. I agreeed that we (LosT) would declare war on the Knights and help him fight them off so that it would be a "fair" fight.
When we declared our war officially (right here in this thread) Tyekai was the first member of the Knights to reply. If he had been the only member of the Knights to reply, this war might have turned out very differently for the Knights. Tyekai was respectful, helpful and intelligent. He attempted to explain in detail why the Knights had talked about going to war with UNSC, told us about the ex-memeber and about the rumors of UNSC asking their members to push resources. Tyekai might very well have convinced us the entire thing had been a big misunderstanding and we could have ended the war peacefully except for the Knight leader Foodman. Foodman was the exact opposite of Tyekai. He was rude, obnoxious and a braggart. He had no desire to end the war, insulted us on a regular basis and even declared that his alliance would win and we should simply give up now.
At this point three things happened. First, Tyekai saw that Foodman was messing up any chance for the war to end peacefully and asked him to apologize but Foodman branded Tyekai a traitor instead, forcing Tyeaki to quit the Knights making him the first in a LONG line of Knights diplomats who tried to end the war but were unsuccessful because of Foodman. Second, UNSC dropped out of the war without consulting us (but they apparently did consult with Foodman) which was bad enough but they then got most of their members (inculding their leader Nightspell) banned for multi-accounting and pushing, thus proving that the Knights were right all along. Third, Foodman, though his own arrogance and disreguard for common courtesy, got himself banned from these forums making it impossible for him to continue to reply here (although he did send his obnxoious friends from universe 19 over here every once in awhile until they started getting warnings for it as well).
Because Foodman could not reply here and the Knights diplomats usually took weeks (and some times months) to make contact with us we were unable to end the war peacefully even though the reasons for the war (UNSC) were now banned from the game and more likely than not guilty of the cheating they had been accused of all along. So we were forced to shift our focus from ending the war to simply winning it. We didn't have any real complaint with most of the Knights members and if Tyekai showed us anything it was that most of their members (with obvious exceptions) were decent people. Our main goal was to convince as many members of the Knights as possible to quit and look for better alliances. We did this by trying to demonstrate to them
that Foodman was a poor leader who didn't care about them at all. For those that weren't convinced by words alone, we attacked them. Day and night until they quit. Between our attacks and Foodman's leadership (or lack thereof) the Knights membership began to dwindle.
I do not mean to brag, but I feel our plan worked. I'll give credit where credit is due and say the Knights were much more stubborn than we expected and they held out much longer then we expected. But in the end I feel we won this war.
Here are the grounds on which I proclaim our victory:
Member Count: - When this war began, the Knights had over 25 members. For the first month or so of the war that number stayed about the same. Today the Knights have six members in total, one of which is a spy working for the Golden Shields who has reported to us every circular message they make.
Rank: When this war started, both of our alliances were ranked nearly the same, with the Knights actually ranked slightly higher than us. For the first month or so of the war, that stayed about the same. If I recall correctly we were ranked 45 and the Knights were ranked 44 or something very similar along those lines. Today our alliance is ranked 43 and the Knights are ranked 73. Clearly they have fallen quite far in the rankings.
Combat: When this war started Foodman bragged a LOT about two "HoF hits" he got early on which consited him him sacraficing large numbers of his own ships to destroy a few of ours when we would attack him. His bragging quickly ended even before his banning from this forum because even he could see he was not going to win a war by fighiting all defensive battles. During the entire course of the war, the Knights attacked LosT enough times that it can be counted on one hand. Meanwhile members of LosT were attacking the Knights more times than that every day. Though our attacks were not large, their sheer volume made up for that. During war there are no bashing rules and we used that to our advantage. Many members of the Knights were attacked so often that they could not even build ships or save resources because of the constant farming. Also during the course of this war, we probably fired thousands of interplanetary missiles at various members of the Knights, doing millions of resources in damage with each attack. Our goal was to target a few members of the Knights at once and pummel them with attacks until they got fustrated and quit the Knights, a plan which worked very well.
Teamwork & Coordination: This was the biggest factor in the Knights defeat.
The Knights abandoned their forums rather early on in the war. This was partly because they had already made the mistake of leaving their forums unsecured in such a way that anyone could read what was posted there. But it also didn't help that their forum admin was one of the first members to go inactive and let his account get deleted during the war. After that the Knights were relegated to using circular messages to communicate and thanks to our spy, we read every circular message they sent and in many cases probably already acted on the message before even half of the Knights had seen it.
Meanwhile, we had not abandoned our forums and had in fact been using them to their fullest advantage during the war. We had an entire section on our forums dedicated just to the Knights:

In this forum we had one thread dedicated to each member of the Knights. In that thread was all the information we had collected on that person inculding the coordinates of their planets (thus why I can't show you any screen shots of the threads), defense of those planets, fleets, technology and even CRs from every attack we had made on that person.
Once a member quit the Knights, we moved their thread to a sub-forum where we kept all the threads for every former member of the Knights:

This was to keep a list of all the members of the Knights that had been "dealt with" so far as well as to keep track of all their former members in case any ever tried to join us to spy on us or cause trouble in some other fashion. That never happened and we never had any trouble with any former Knights, most of whom ended up joining T.H.C. who we have also never had any trouble with. Our former Knights forum currently contains 34 topics, which is the number of members the Knights have lost during the course of this war.
Sorry if that was quite long, but I wanted to make sure that everyone knows what is going on here (or atleast doesn't have any excuse for not knowing) and why we are declaring our victory over the Knights now. We simply wish to end this war because we do not see a reason to continue to fight an alliance of five people, three of which are in vacation mode.
And as stated above, I won't ask a moderator to close the thread for 48 hours. This way if any members of the Knights really want to keep fighting or dispute our victory, they have a fair chance to do so. Of course I can't imagine anyone other than Foodman objecting at this point and since hes banned...
