Well for MD, the RIP(s) need to go in a battle if there is something on your moon, so all you got to do is ninja the RIP if you have enough fleet, if you don't then get a mate to ACS defend you (if in a ACS uni)

Good Luck! :)

To reduce the chances of this happening in the future, you should ensure that you have the largest (or close) possible moon size, if you already don't ensure that.

Simply place 2000 RL on each moon. That will make it impossible to destoy the moon without clearing some defence(unless the attacker is a noob who uses more than 1 RIP per. MD)
Else than that you should have 167(I think it is) dest ready to ninja the MD =)

I farmed a guy a while back, and he launched MD missions on me a couple of times then recalled... Finally, he let it go through (with a fleet hitting just before so i couldn't ninja). Moon went pop on the first wave :(

Sent a circ, and an alliance mate sent 5 waves of lfs at me, resulting in me having a new moon in the same day ^^

In fact, sending just 1 rip in a MD against an 8k moon is the n00bish move here, not the other way around. You should at least use 2 or rather 3 per wave if you want to have a decent chance at the moon actually blowing up. And since you're most likely going for a fleet returning from a FS, you only have one chance against a certain enemy.
Therefore, you're a n00b if you send 1 rip per wave vs. an 8k moon :=

I have to disagree with you.
Anything more than 1 RIP gives to high per centage of losing to much. Also 1 RIP gives a better result per RIP than more RIPs does.
I must admit that all the pro players I talk with uses 1 RIP pr. MD and I do it myself too(if you want to make sure the moon goes down you just get some help from friends or your alliance)

EDIT; And maxy...7 PT requires a lvl 8 shipyard, which often is more spare fields than you have on a moon

Ok, let's rephrase that. If you cannot get help from another person and you have a normal case MD scenario as I described above, you cannot run the risk of the moon not being destroyed (it always exists, but you want to minimize it..)
If you use 1 rips per MD, you'll end up with 6 8% chances. Not exactly the jackpot and likely to fail, resulting in your victim being alarmed and you losing all of your preparation, such as moving in system with him etc etc.
These losses are a lot larger then a few extra rips going down :)

it really depends on the fact, what the attacker is doing with his missions.

does he have a big fleet timed before or after the rips?

i escaped a md in a funny way: number one player moved in my system and sent some waves of rips straight to my moon.

as i didnt have the fleet to stand against his big fleet, i sacrified some lfs to make his rips not win the fight and get the chance to detroy my moon.

suffering way but also an option in case someone is really too strong

Maxy has a point. If it's a new moon for a highly developed account, just build the shipyard after lots of robos and bases and a JG. Build lots of plasmas...and it may as well be a LOT of them since you're only doing it once....then strip down the yard, build lanx, strip down the robos as you build more lanx. Yeah it costs, but so does a fleet lost because MD put it on someone else's lanx, not to mention the rest of your moon build. It's just a matter of what you want to spend versus the risk. Noone said you had to keep the yard.

Then again if the ballz ov d00m are incoming and you've not done the above, and you or others can not ninja (even for a loss) and you have a fleet on the way. All i can say is I hope you aren't too emotionally attached to those ships. It's pretty much in the hands of chance or fate at that point.

That's almost completely useless. If someone wants to pop your moon they'll just IPM your defense.
